Sigma Chi- Theta Chapter

The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance, and accomplishment of the ideals of friendship, justice, and learning within our membership.
Our brotherhood has its roots in the collegiate experience and engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice for all, and to realize the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader communities in which we live.

We achieve these ideals through the practice of character qualities embodied in our Ritual.
Each Sigma Chi completes a period of education devoted to the understanding of our unique history, traditions, and practices, which culminates in an opportunity to accept a lifelong commitment to Sigma Chi and the achievement of our purpose.

Sigma Chi Fraternity best serves its purpose by developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that foster leadership, build character, and promote positive relationship skills, which, in turn, enable our members to become productive and caring participants in their families, colleges, and communities.

Theta is very excited for this upcoming year with the return of the Chapter House and another year to recruit outstanding men to join the ranks of Theta.

Installation a huge Success

On the morning of March 28th, 2009 31 members of the Theta Colony of Sigma Chi became the newest members of the Sigma Chi Fraternity after going through their Initiation Ceremonies.  That evening, in front of 174 guests, ranging from alumni, parents, Sigs from other chapters, Grand Consul Bob Jones and other VIPs from headquarters, the Charter of the Theta Chapter was signed and returned to its proper place here at Gettysburg College.  The evening featured toasts, speaches, stories, songs from a band that looked a bit too much like U2, awards, the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" and of course, fun.  All of the members of Sigma Chi, Theta Chapter were proud to be a part of such a historic event for Gettysburg College and for Sigma Chi and were overwhelmed with the support shown by Theta alumni who came from all over the East coast and who, after over 50 years as Sigs still showed their support to the young men that now take their place in Theta's outstanding tradition.  Congratulations to these young men, the refounders of Theta.  After over 18 months of work for many of these gentlemen, their dream and their goal has come true.  Now they must continue the hard work that they have put into creating Theta, so that they may continue to make a difference in Gettysburg.
